Features and Functionality

All three of the plans offered by ADT Security can cover all the grounds of a good Medical Alert System, which are monitoring, alerts, and home automation. When you avail of a Medical Alert System from ADT, you get a bunch of different systems that are all easy to install. These are designed to be installed yourself, but you can always call a technician using the ADT hotline, and someone will guide you through the entire installation.

Additionally, if you want someone to install the system for you, you can hire an ADT specialist. However, keep in mind that this isn’t free, and you will likely have to pay an extra fee for the installation.

While installation isn’t free, the ADT Medical Alert Systems offer great value for the price. Here are the different features you will find when using an ADT Medical Alert System.

Monitoring

All ADT specialists have been specifically trained to provide senior-sensitive help whenever needed. This makes them capable of saying the right words at the right time to potentially prevent injuries and even save lives. Monitoring is offered 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Regardless of which product you have, a simple press of a button will connect you to the helpline and an agent will communicate with you via the base station. The monitoring staff assesses the situation and quickly dispatches any required help. The user’s loved ones are also kept informed at all times – and especially when emergencies occur.

One of the main features that set ADT apart from other health monitoring systems is the built-in temperature monitor. If you avail of any of their at-home systems, the base unit is equipped with a temperature monitor that will give you a heads up if your home is below or above normal temperature. As we age, our sensory perception diminishes, and it may be harder to distinguish these temperature changes, which are very important. This feature is only available for at-home systems but offers a wide range of benefits.

Alerts

The wristbands and pendants are 100% waterproof, which means that you don’t have to take them off while in the shower, while fishing, etc. Being able to wear them at all times allows you the confidence to do anything you want and be anywhere you want.  In addition to this, fall detection is offered as an add-on for the Plus & On-The-Go units. Medical Alert Basic does not have fall detection capabilities. If a person wearing a fall detection pendant experiences a fall, ADT specialists are automatically informed – there isn’t even a need to press the help button. The basic system boasts a range of 300 feet, while the plus system offers connectivity across 600 feet. The on-the-go emergency system can be taken anywhere and will offer support wherever there is digital cellular network. You can also add Emergency Waterproof Wall Mount Buttons for extra protection in the home when not wearing the pendant.

Home Automation

Aside from the optional fall detection, ADT’s medical alert systems do not offer much in terms of home automation. However, ADT is a comprehensive security system company that has been around for a long time. And with that, they offer a wide variety of products on top of their medical and security alert systems.

Available with the Medical Alert Plus and On the Go systems is a Wall Mount Button, which means you always know where to go to press the button in case of an emergency.

If you’re looking to automate your home and turn it into a smart home, ADT offers a wide range of services such as smart locks, smoke detectors, and more. However, when it comes to their medical alert systems, the company doesn’t have that much to offer in terms of automation.

Ease of Use

The system is really easy to set up and start using. Once you plug the device into the socket, all you have to do is press the ‘test’ button to verify that everything is in order. In case of an emergency, a single button press will connect you to the helpline.

Customer support

The ADT customer support team is known for providing fast and helpful responses to querying customers. The team can be reached 24/7 via phone and email. The website features a variety of blog posts and a FAQ page to answer the most common inquiries and questions. There are different numbers for support and sales, and there is also an ADT YouTube page with a wide range of different videos to help customers out with their basic concerns.

Final Word

ADT’s medical alert systems aren’t perfect. There are some flaws such as the limited range of the base models and the lack of home automation features. However, ADT is still one of the longest-standing security companies out there, so you can rely on their century-long experience of improving the safety of their customers.

They offer three different plans which are competitively priced and offer a fair amount of benefits, including fall detection for select packages such as the Pro & On-The-Go units.

Whether you’re on the lookout for a wireless base station or want to have access to medical help on the go, you’ll find the right solution for you with ADT. If you’re in need of customer support, their team is available 24/7 via phone and email.

We would like a system that would provide a call to a family member before notifying any emergency service and dispatching service personnel. I am familiar with ADT alarm service and I was the company representative to call before dispatching police. Do you have a plan that will work?

I wear a pace maker will these devices work??

answer
Most of the time, pacemakers will not interact with the medical alert device. Nevertheless, you should talk to your doctor about your specific pacemaker and what you should avoid.

I am going to be wheelchair-bound for about 10 more weeks. I’ll be going home on the 23rd and the people who have been taking care of my puppy seem to think they can force me into getting a security system or they won’t give me back my pup. Do I need the “Plus” gadget if I am only going to be in my apartment and around the block?

The plus device has fall detection which would probably be important for you to have for peace of mind and full, 24/7 safety

Can you tell me what the limited range from base unit to help button is?

Admin

It depends which ADT device, on the ADT Mobile Response pendant, for example it’s 1,000 feet, and on the wristband it’s 500 feet

How far outside from the house does this work?

Admin

The range depends on the specific ADT device you choose as well as your specific type of environment. The range tends to be longer in rural areas and shorter in areas with more trees and buildings.
