Features and Functionality
The Medical Alert Basic is the entry-level medical alert system by ADT, and it offers coverage up to 300 feet from the base unit. Aside from the base unit, users get an additional wristband or necklace equipped with a panic button that’s used to notify ADT that they’re in need of assistance. The Medical Alert Basic system is fitted with temperature monitoring, it has up to 300 feet or range, and it features two-way audio so users can talk to an ADT representative. The best thing about the wristband and pendant is that they are waterproof, so users can still wear them while taking a shower, and in case they fall, they can alert someone.
The additional ADT lockbox is also an amazing addition to any of the medical alert packages offered by ADT because you can safely keep a house key outside in case you or your loved one gets locked inside the house while having an emergency. This way, people with the code can easily get the keys and assist the user without damaging the door.
Monitoring
Although the wristband or pendant doesn’t actually monitor any health parameters, it’s an essential piece of equipment that can save a person’s life. What the device monitors is the temperature around the base unit. If the temperature rises or drops significantly, ADT will try to reach the user via the two-way audio unit, and contact emergency responders if needed.
Alerts
This system’s base unit is fitted with a built-in temperature monitor that measures the temperature in the room. In case the base unit measures a fast rise or drop in temperature, the system will automatically alert ADT or first responders.
Both wristband and necklace include panic buttons where first responders try to reach the user via the two-way audio system. In case the user doesn’t respond within a limited time frame, emergency services are called to the user’s home address.
The standard Medical Alert Basic package includes a base unit and a waterproof wristband or necklace. Additional wristbands or necklaces are available for households where more than one user needs them.
Ease of use
The reason why ADT’s Medical Alert Basic is one of the most popular choices when it comes to medical alert systems is the fact that it’s one of the simplest ones to use.
Installing it to your home requires only plugging in the system via the power cord, and the system is ready to assist the user. A detailed instruction manual is also included in each package, so if you have any dilemmas, you’ll easily find the solution.
